Case 05 · Wiring and luggage damage assessment

Black Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited: multiple damage zones, one coherent file.

The black touring Harley was photographed as a complete motorcycle and again with the seat removed. The close record connects severed electrical bundles with damaged Tour-Pak trim and attachment areas instead of treating them as unrelated notes.

A clear estimate needs a clear damage map.

This case shows the value of moving from overview to access to detail. Overall photographs record model, color, touring configuration, major body assemblies, and installed equipment. The under-seat view records the electrical condition beside the battery and frame. The Tour-Pak close photographs record missing or damaged edge trim and the relationship between lid, lower shell, latch area, and mounting hardware. These layers let a reviewer understand why the repair plan extends beyond an exterior panel.

01 · Establish context

Photograph the whole motorcycle

Overall front, side, and rear views preserve the pre-repair configuration and make it possible to locate every close photograph. They also record components that could be removed later for access.

02 · Electrical access

Expose the battery-side routing

With the seat removed, the main harness area becomes visible. The images show more than one cut bundle near the distribution cover and battery, supporting a deeper circuit and connector review.

03 · Luggage detail

Document the Tour-Pak as an assembly

Edge trim, latch-area geometry, lower-shell condition, liner, rack, lights, hinges, wiring, and mounting rails interact. Repairability and replacement decisions should not be based on the outer lid alone.

04 · Parts research

Match configuration before ordering

Harley touring parts vary by year, trim, finish, audio or lighting equipment, and paint. Exact identification, supersession checks, included hardware, and refinishing requirements reduce avoidable supplements and fit problems.

05 · Labor planning

Account for safe access and restoration

Electrical diagnosis may require body removal, seat and trim access, connector inspection, harness routing, protection and fastening, and reassembly. Each step should be planned rather than hidden inside a generic labor allowance.

06 · Final checks

Verify the whole affected system

Completion should include battery and charging condition, appropriate circuit tests, lighting and controls, audio or accessory functions where equipped, secure routing, fastener confirmation, luggage fit, latch operation, and a final photo record.

Photographic evidence from the project.

These images were selected from the Vision Performance project file. VIN photographs and readable license-plate photographs are intentionally excluded from the public case study.

No invented finish line

The available photo set shows assessment and exposed damage; it does not show a completed repair. For that reason this case does not claim a repaired harness, refinished bodywork, restored operation, delivery date, or insurer outcome. Publishing the true project phase protects both trust and technical accuracy.
